With all the history discussion about Peekskill (see post below) we shouldn’t forget that Mount Vernon is shooting for a spot in the books, too.

Bob Cimmino can become the third coach with four state titles, joining Lou Panzanaro (five and counting) and Amityville’s Jack Agostino (four).

And Mount Vernon, if it wins it all, will tie small-school Bridgehampton with its eighth state championship overall. Peekskill is next with five.
