Don’t hold your breath

November
20

They were chanting “Fire Isiah” at the Garden tonight, booing him before the game, during the game and after the disaster of a game.

People are starting to figure that enough’s finally enough, that Jim Dolan might finally wake up and get a whiff of reality and get rid of Thomas … and everybody else, starting with Stephon Marbury.

Yeah, well I’m not buying it. I can’t say with certainty that Dolan won’t change his mind, but I’ve seen first-hand the way Dolan dotes over his guys, Thomas and Glen Sather, his hires, his guys. I think it’s more likely that Dolan is a believer in Thomas’s excuses of bad breaks and injuries and bad matchups. More likely that Dolan is convinced, by Thomas, that the Knicks are a few breaks away from having a decent record.

More likely that Dolan doesn’t think this streak is the real Knicks, and that better days will just naturally arrive in due time. Of course, everybody else knows better.

I will give Thomas credit for this: A coach who takes on his star player, who doesn’t let his No. 1 guy get away with murder, who isn’t afraid to bench and fine his top acquisition, well, that says something. Many bad coaches will only go after the second-tier players and will allow a double standard to fester.

I also think Thomas is smarter than a lot of people give him credit for being. But he is stubbornly confident. Dolan eats that up, and is easily convinced by Thomas that all is well … or it will be soon.

I will still be surprised if Dolan fires Thomas any time soon.

I agree.. I don’t think Dolan will fire him. Don’t be surprised if he takes one of his jobs away.

    Fire Dolan!

    Carp,

Here are my thoughts on that and other things:

Isiah is very smart, he will leave on his terms, when unfortunately this team is at rock bottom which I do not think has happened yet.
Stephan Marbury is a cancer to the team. Cut him and eat the 2 years of the contract.
The Dolans are the worst thing that has ever happened to sports in the MY Metro Area. Jim Dolan is now occupying the rarified air I only thought that M Donald Grant had exclusive title to. A pox on them and the rip off artists at Cablevision. My disgust for that family has no boundries.
In my opinion, the 2 greatest captains in NY Metro area sports were inducted into the Hall of Fame together. Scott Stevens and Marc Messier. Both were game changers in there own way. I would go to battle with either of them leading the way.
I am already sick of A-Rod. He wants to be a Yankee, unfinished business my butt. It is all about the Benjamins my friend and nothing else.
Where are all the “Tom Coughlin Must Go” campers led by Gary Meyers of the Daily News. Coach has done a hell of a job this year. He is finally adapting with the times.
I still believe in Eli. I think the kid is a winner.
I was wrong about Strahan, he has shown he is truly one of the best ever to play the position.
If you go back to previous blogs a few months ago, I predicted that ‘Mangenious” would struggle, he is now “Mangidiot”.
The Patriots are like the neighborhood bully right now, I still believe someone is going to punch them out in the playoffs.
What has happened to my NHL, you can not recognize it anymore. We need more Sean Avery’s in the league. He adds some spice to a rather dull sauce. Remember in the 70’s when you had the Broad Street Bullies, Tiger Williams, the Big Bad Bruins, the Islanders, The Flying Frenchman in Montreal all at the same time. That was Hockey. The NHL now is dull. Thank you Gary Betteman for ruining the league. He must be a close friend of the Dolans.
