Wish I could do that

Maybe you saw them featured on RNN tonight. If you didn’t, or if you want to know more about them, I will have a column on them in The Journal News and on LoHud.com on Thursday.

They are a pair of 21-year-old lifelong friends from Suffern—Alon Mass and Neal Koral—and they are about to depart on an odyssey that would make any sports fan jealous.

They are going on a summer-long tour of all 30 major league ballparks, but not just to ballparks. They are going, for example, to the Preakness, and to the baseball Hall of Fame, and to Las Vegas and New Orleans, and national parks, and Lambeau Field.

They are doing it on a shoestring budget, staying with friends or family, staying in cheap motels, staying in the car, or in a blow-up tent they bought. And they are doing it for charity, attempting to raise funds for the American Cancer Society or Make-A-Wish Foundation or Harlem RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities). They are asking for donations, either straight cash donations or pledges for dollar amounts corresponding to the number of home runs they see hit as they watch a game in each of the 30 ballparks.

For more immediate information, or to donate, you can see their Web site here.

Otherwise, check back at LoHud.com or The Journal News on Thursday.
