So my pal and I are driving to play golf at the Links at Union Vale yesterday when we cross over a street with a road sign that reads: NOXON RD.
Which is now my favorite road because you can spell it frontward, backward, upside-down, or even backward and upside-down, and it’s exactly the same. NOXON.
See, it doesn’t take much to make me happy.
It also doesn’t take much to get me ticked, annoyed, aggravated or stressed. I guess that’s what being a columnist is about, and now that I’m blogging again  my first experience came during the U.S. Open at Winged Foot  I will have even more of a forum to vent.
Here’s the deal with this blog. It’s going to be about local sports. It’s going to be about pro sports. It’s going to be about everything involved in sports, from second-guessing big-league managers to the commercials the networks shove down our throats during games to the poor kid who shanks an extra point on a high school Saturday.
We’re going to try to discuss the great stuff, and we’re going to go hard after the creeps  the greedy owners who would turn the fans upside down (not unlike NOXON) to get every last penny out of their ticket-buying pockets; the cheatin’ steroid/HGH users; the TV networks who would hold the Super Bowl at 4 a.m. if they thought they could milk a few extra dollars out of it.
Everything’s fair game, and you are cordially invited to jump in at any time, or all the time. No RSVP necessary. Just show up. Let ‘er rip.
Tonight I’m going to Peekskill-Nyack football. Tomorrow probably Roosevelt-Mount Vernon. I hope to compliment my buddy Kevin Devaney and his remarkable Varsity Insider blog, so we’ll both have more thoughts to come after we see some live snaps.
Let me know what you think. About anything. Thanks.

Oh no, Devaney and Carpinello complimenting each other, talk about putting your heads together and making a rock pile. I look foward to your insights. Come County Center time I’m sure there will be plenty of people ducking for cover.
I was wondering when you were going to get your blog out there. I’m looking forward to your commentary. Don’t forget to make it to a few Husky games. Any of those guys on the cover of the HS football preview look familiar?...you think Seth can still carry the rock? See you at the games.
Carp,
Welcome to the blogging world. Finally, there’s a place for you to share all that useless knowledge you’ve attained from attending sporting events for 30 years. Best of luck.
Welcome Carp !!
Your objective wisdom and knowledge of the sports scene around here is just what we need.
Should be a great weekend.
MAC
Carp,
I’m so excited that you have a blog as well. I’ve always hoped that I could read more of what you have to say.
As one of the HS junkies, I hope you focus on the HS aspect a lot even though Kevin’s devoting everything to it. I like your commentary.
Whats the reason for hitting Nyack-Peekskill? There isn’t much of a story up there, is there?? Feedback about the new site would be great to. Your comments mean a lot. Thanks.
John Malone
hey Carp
i read several ny papers online to start my day keeps me close to home. were you once known as GEESE.
i think we went to harrison high together class of 75?
anyway congrats and much success to you.
p….....livin it up in Florida for 28 years
Dave, you still owe me some of those old scorebooks for my record-keeping. I haven’t forgotten. But I do appreciate the rock-pile comment. See you before County Center?
Pattie, Geese was my brother’s nickname in high school. I’ll tell him you were asking, though. John, the reason I went to Nyack was for Castellano’s 150th. Bet you had to recharge your cell phone battery last night. Bobby C, I know who you are. I imagine we’ll bump into one another soon. Mac, thanks for the kind words; I do believe that’s the first time the words wisdom and knowledge have been in the same sentence with my name. And Kevin … you’ll be sick and tired of me by the end of September. I’ll see you at Memorial Field.
